designer / illustrator / berkeley, ca

Hello! My name is Alina Buevich and I’m a designer & illustrator—sometimes my work lives online but other times you can spot it in print, at events, or even on some merch. Outside of that, I also spend my time drawing, taking on freelance projects, and collaborating on lump shop. In a lot of these projects you’ll see examples of work from my time as an in-house designer at Discord and Chronicle Books.

Any questions . ?

Melty Chihuahua

/ 2021
Because a lot of my design work at Discord was tied to marketing campaigns, there weren’t many projects that I worked on that were truly evergreen and would live inside the app for a long period of time. So funnily enough, one of my lasting legacies at Discord is probably the concept creation of the “Melty Chihuahua” sticker that still exists as one of the app’s core branded sticker sets. The idea for this anxious chihuahua-like pile of goop was super roughly sketched out by me when the product design team had an open call for sticker ideas and eventually was fully realized by animation studio, Bonkers.

Cursed Wumpuses

/ 2020—2023
Not every Wumpus is a regular Wumpus. Sometimes, they’re part worm, sometimes they’re very weary, sometimes they’re an e-boy, and sometimes they’re working from home and desperately need to shower.

Art School Reel

/ 2022
For three years I was a part of Discord’s in-house creative team, Art School. This reel is a snapshot of some of the amazing work that our small group of animators, illustrators, designers, copywriters, and project managers created over the course of that time.
